Many a times, patient come with a urine report which are inaccurate because they do not know how to collect sample for urine. if the sample collection is inaccurate, the results will also be, and as the patient himself has to collect urine sample, the responsibility of giving sample lies with the patient.
This videos can help patient understand the proper way to collect urine sample
the steps are as follows
1) wash the hands with soap and water
2) open the lid of urine container and keep the lid upside down so as not to contaminate the under surface of lid to avoid contamination.
3) wash private parts with water only
4) start to pass urine and let first half of urine flow away
5) without stopping the stream, collect middle part of urine in the container( about 10 ml)
6) let the later part of urine flow away
7) During the whole process, do not let the surrounding skin to touch the urine stream otherwise the sample might get contaminated and cause inaccurate urine test results.
